The California Corpse Caper
Four Californian women actually MADE UP another human being, faked this man’s death and then proceeded to cash in a funeral insurance policy. This resulted in no less than a $1.2 million dollar payout.
The suspicion arose when the man by the common name of “Jim Davis” was found to be a figment and nothing more. As one of the four women worked in a mortuary, suspicions began to grow.
The true genius of the plan was uncovered when the coffin was found to contain plastic mannequin parts and (yes, you read this correctly), portions of a dismembered cow.
All of these were then cremated and the ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean. The FBI found little to be funny about this plot and the four women now wish that they had been cremated. Rest in pieces, Jim.
