Aron Ralston was just going for a normal hike back in Utah back in 2003. He was an experienced climber and was used to going it alone. After all, what could possibly go wrong? He was young, full of energy and up for a challenge. When you read what this 23-year old want through, you will appreciate why he should have stayed home that morning and relaxed in his yard. Southeastern Utah is quite a desolate place. Still, it is very beautiful and Mr. Ralston was looking to get away from it all and enjoy a bit of peace and tranquility. He had already climbed each one of the 14,000-foot high peaks in Utah, so a canyoneering trip seemed like a welcome departure from such dizzying altitudes. Having been so very confident, he failed to tell anyone where he was going or when he would return. This was his most important mistake.
